Nordic or Scandinavian?
Indeed, what’s the difference between the two concepts? In common sense, these words are synonyms. But connoisseurs can distinct some differences. Nordic interiors are corresponding to “Nordic character” and to more strict minimalistic interiors. If the Scandinavian style comprises quite a lot of nuances, the Nordic interior should be laconic, clear, without many decors.
As you can see from the photos above, almost any interior of the house or apartment can be styled to recreate the Nordic atmosphere. The good part about this style is its simplicity. Another bright distinctive feature of Nordic interiors is in addition to plants and flowers.
Materials and Colors of Genuine Nordic Interior
However, don’t think that white color palette and minimum of furnishing is the business card of Nordic rooms. It can appear in quite an original look either. Dark colors, even black can be added to dilute the overall picture. It also perfectly copes with colorful infusions of green, blue, yellow, sometimes red.
But it’s not more about color. Nordic interiors are keen to be differed by structure and materials. The light wooden floor is of course one of the main distinctive features of the style. Also, you can find elements of wood and cork almost everywhere. It can be Scandinavian chairs and tables on wooden legs etc. No need to mention that plastic and wallpaper are not often guests here. Nevertheless, a glass table can be quite a successful decoration of Nordic living.
Nordic Kitchen/Dining
This room follows the basic concept. Neutral colors, smooth surfaces, and crisp lines are the main philosophy. The Black and white combination is also welcomed.
Bedroom in Nordic Interpretation

Maybe the room for most daring designer’s fantasies. But again, strict logic is above all. Scandinavian furniture complements the simplicity of interior decoration. Wooden elements and plants setting us in a calm mood.
Bathroom
Metro tile is one of the favorite materials for the Nordic bathroom. Moreover, it can’t refuse wooden trimming either. Unusual minimalistic contrast is best for such an interior. The room should be simple, functional yet visually appealing. And this is not an easy task to fulfill. Very thoughtful designer’s work hides behind the apparent refinement and simplicity of the bathroom.
