Storage Areas in the Kitchen: How to Organize the Order in the Room?

Storage is the foundation of a good organization due to many factors. The most important is an integrated approach to this issue. Starting from discipline and compliance with the rules, constant returning everything in place to the careful planning of purchases. To do this, you need to deliberately form zones in which you are going to store the necessary things.

Many kitchens are disappointing with the constant search of things and a perpetual mess. While some things are easy to hide, there are also kitchen products and accessories that just go for the clutter. Thus, two questions arise that should be resolved:

  1. How to organize a room for storing and preparing the kitchen in such a way that it really contributes to the work? The main thing is to think in advance: what, how often and at what stage do you need, and also where should it be better to place?
  2. What should be the optimal choice of kitchen appliances in the room? That is the preference for the right furniture fittings. Choose cabinets: lower, upper, angular ones and even with highly functional mechanisms in the form of drawers, allowing you to adapt the kitchen to the needs of specific users. This will help facilitate access and maintain order among inventory and food.

What Furniture is there for Storing Various Items in the Kitchen?

A good organization enhances the functionality of the interior and very easily eliminates chaos in the kitchen. Therefore, the inventory and storage area requires well-thought-out solutions for modern kitchen furniture. Large pots and their lids, fragile cutlery, boxes for spices, small household items can be hidden invisible, but at the same time easily accessible. After all, different storage areas in the kitchen are indispensable to maintain order.

Using Hanging Boxes for Small Items

Start with the smallest things in the kitchen, such as the spices mentioned above. Instead of scattering herbs in random cans and boxes or, even worse, storing them in open plastic bags, it is much better to place them in tightly closed glass cans. Then you can place the containers in the organizer in a shallow drawer (without the possibility of slipping), which will quickly find the spice you need at the moment and guarantee its freshness.

By using plastic organizers for drawers of various sizes, you can also organize other products, for example, cutlery and small kitchen tools, such as a corkscrew, a pizza knife, etc. All small accessories will find their place.

Spacious Cabinet under the Countertop for Large Dishes

What about bulky products, such as pots, pans, fryers, etc.? They are most conveniently located in spacious cabinets under the counter. And again, as is the case with the little things, the retractable systems-drawers will provide quick and easy access to them. To optimally use space, it is worth adjusting the size of the box for the items that you want to store in it.

Corner Kitchen Cabinets

Corner cabinets are also a good place to store large equipment and utensils. Provided, however, that here you will take care of the assembly of roll-out systems. It is worth paying attention to the fact that the shelf of this system itself is slightly rounded at individual points because in this case, even more oval or round objects will fit.

Capacious corner cabinets have great storage potential, provided that traditional shelves with poor access are replaced by full drawers. This will allow you to optimally use the valuable angular space, while significantly improving the ease of use. It is enough to pull out a box to have unlimited access to all the contents.

Organization of a Functional Pantry for Food

The first area in the kitchen to look after is the storage area. To properly plan it, you first need to assess the amount of free space and buying habits of family members and then choose the type and number of cabinets and drawers needed. It is best to arrange a pantry in the kitchen, rather than in a separate room. Thanks to this, you will have direct and quick access to dry packaged food, rolls, and other items.

Look at the storage system that has a design similar to a refrigerator — products can be stored on doors and on shelves that open forward. Next to such a cabinet, it would be preferable to place a refrigerator in which you will store fresh products that require refrigeration, together with a freezer where food is frozen. Thanks to this, you can always have quick and easy access to any kind of food. Therefore, for storing products in narrower cabinets, sophisticated systems are used that are optimal for cabinets with a width of 150 to 400 mm.

Storage Area at the Place of Cooking and Washing

Food storage systems should be located not only near the refrigerator but also in places of cooking and washing. Dishes are usually prepared to the right or left of the sink, as well as in the sink itself because access to water is necessary for cooking. When working with food products, the largest amount of organic waste is generated, so you should choose the right trash can along with containers for separation. It’s worth using solutions such as basket sets inserted directly into the drawer. When designing your wash zone, be sure to store basic detergents under the sink.

The best place for a dishwasher is next to the sink and trash can, as well as near cabinets with cutlery, plates, cups, and glasses. This arrangement will allow you to clean the dishes before placing them in the dishwasher, and then quickly place them in cabinets after washing. Ideal storage systems for small dishes are cutlery storage systems. In this case, the plates can be placed in special areas in large boxes, so that, if necessary, move to any other place.

Baking and Cooking Area: Storage Options

In the cooking and baking area, the most important are the stove and oven. Microwave ovens, coffee machines that can be used on countertops and in closed storage are considered additions. Cabinets can be equipped with pull-out shelves.

The possibilities of creating a functional and at the same time beautiful kitchen in both large and small rooms are almost endless. Ergonomics and sophisticated storage solutions ensure that not only cooking in the kitchen but also staying with family or friends is fun.
