DIY Loft Style Interior Elements to Set Unrepeatable Atmosphere at Home

Not many people know that the Loft style gained its popularity in the distant 1920s in the United States. It was during this period that industrial enterprises rapidly closed due to the Great Depression. Representatives of high society immediately noticed them and began to experiment with design. As a result, the famous to this day has Loft style has emerged. It is used literally everywhere, from the living quarters to restaurants, bars, and even offices. This is not surprising, because it does not require too much investment. And with a great desire, you can make Loft style interior elements with your own hands.

First of all, it is worth noting that the Loft style differs from the rest of the styles with a combination of aged and modern materials. Therefore, in one interior, brickwork, pipes in the role of an accent, and brand-new home appliances will look great. It would seem that things are contradictory, but it is precisely due to this they look as harmonious as possible.

As it was mentioned before, this style was used in industrial premises. Today, a loft can be arranged even in a one-room apartment. But still, high ceilings are a hallmark. Due to this, the room visually seems larger.

Also, loft-style rooms are rarely divided into rooms. Most often, this is one large space that is divided by furniture, lighting, or the color of the walls. It looks stylish and rather unusual.

A special role in the design is played by a combination of shades. In this case, the most suitable colors are dark green, white, gray, black, red, brown, blue etc. Other shades can be used if desired, but they should not be too bright or delicate.

As for decor, you can use unusual designs that remind of the industrial past. It can be metal chairs, various decors from wooden boards. Particular attention should be paid to choosing the right lighting. In this case, it should be complex structures made of metal and glass. They characterize the given style in the interior most accurately.

DIY Loft Furniture

Of course, a wide variety of furniture in different styles is presented in specialized stores. But often the cost is quite high. In fact, the Loft style does not imply large financial investments, so we offer to make furniture and other decorative items with your own hands.

Coffee Table

Necessary materials and tools:

  • wooden pallet;
  • screws;
  • drill;
  • sanding machine or sandpaper;
  • stain;
  • polyurethane varnish;
  • brush;
  • table legs;
  • saw.

At first, cut off part of the pallet, based on the desired size of the table.

Then remove the extra boards from one of the sides of the workpiece.

We attach boards on the side of the table.

Supplement the outer part of the table with boards so that there is a flat surface.

Carefully attach the legs on each side of the table.

We process the surface of the table with sandpaper or a grinding machine. This is necessary in order to get rid of roughness. Only after that we put a stain and leave the table for several hours. We apply varnish on the entire surface and leave it to dry completely.

A beautiful loft-style table is ready!

Unusual Vintage Lamp

Everyone knows that loft-style lighting plays a significant role. It does not at all resemble the usual options. Nevertheless, even such lamps can be made with your own hands.

To do this, you will need:

  • wooden plank;
  • bars;
  • wires
  • cartridges – 3 pcs.;
  • flanges – 3 pcs.;
  • glue for wood;
  • threaded tubes – 3 pcs.;
  • corner fittings – 3 pcs.;
  • varnish for wood;
  • hex head bolts – 4pcs.;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • clamps;
  • paint;
  • brush;
  • light bulbs – 3 pcs.

Apply glue to the bars and attach them to the wooden base. For reliability, we fix using a clamp.

Wipe off the remaining glue and leave the workpiece for several hours.

All bolts and screws are painted in the corresponding color. Leave them until completely dry.

We lay the details out on the working surface in the order in which they will need to be assembled. Insert the cartridge into the corner fitting. To keep them tighter, you can use glue. In this case, the workpiece must be left to dry for several hours.

In the meantime, coat the wooden board with varnish.

We put marks on the board for the holes and immediately make them.

We fasten the flanges to the board, according to the holes.

We lay the wiring and proceed to the assembly of the lamp.

We hang the lamp in a suitable place and connect it.

Only at this stage, we screw the same light bulbs.

Stylish, but at the same time, the unusual DIY lamp is ready!

Original Storage Box

An unusual box for storing things will be needed regardless of the style of your interior. But in this case, it is made of wood, which is fully consistent with the style of the loft.

At work you will need the following:

  • paint;
  • sandpaper;
  • white paint;
  • brush;
  • newspapers or sheets of paper;
  • gloves
  • twine;
  • lighter;
  • knife.

First, we process the box outside and inside with sandpaper to remove all the bumps and hooks.

Paint the entire surface with white paint and leave to dry. If necessary, apply a second coat of paint.

Sand lightly on the surface to give a slight aging effect.

At this stage, you can leave the box as it is or add handles.

Cut two identical pieces of twine.

Pass one end through the hole and tie a knot. Repeat the same with the second end of the rope.

We process the tips with a lighter. This is necessary so that they do not unwind.

Repeat the same on the other side of the box.

The result is a beautiful box that can be used both for storing things and for decoration.

Loft style is an amazing combination of industrial and technological. To achieve that all this looked harmoniously is very difficult. But the result is definitely worth all the effort.
