5 HVAC Technology Features to Consider Investing In

Recently, there have been many technological innovations in the world of HVAC systems, and if you’re planning to upgrade your current system, you will want to consider some of these exciting new features. Below, we’ll outline some of our favorites and tell you why they’re worth your money.

  1. Smart HVAC

With the internet of things becoming increasingly popular, smart devices are now easily accessible to the average consumer, and household appliances, such as doorbells and light bulbs, can be controlled from one central point such as a smartphone or smart home device. Air conditioners have also been integrated with smart technology, so you can easily program your HVAC using an app. For example, you can remotely set your thermostat to vacation mode from your phone if you have to make an unplanned trip. This feature is definitely worth investing in as it can save you big money on your energy bill.

  1. Indoor Air Cleaning Upgrades

Many HVAC systems contain filters cleaning your indoor air. New innovations make it possible for you to upgrade your HVAC with Byrum Heating & AC and fully customize the filtration settings. One example is an electrostatic filter that attracts foreign particles using static electricity. Another option is a UV light purifying filter that cleaning up your home by destroying bacteria, mold, pollen, and other pollutants. These extra features keep you and your family healthy.

  1. Ice-Powered Cooling

Ice is useful for keeping food and drinks cool. Engineers have also found a way to harness it to cool buildings. These systems consist of a tank that contains water. At night this water is converted into ice using the same mechanism present in refrigerators. The following day, the ice keeps the building cool and the cycle is repeated. Ice-powered air conditioners can cool your home for up to six hours, reducing energy consumption by as much as 95%.

  1. Geothermal Heat Pumps

While geothermal heat pumps are not an entirely new innovation, the technology is getting the attention of homeowners interested in upgrading their HVAC systems. A geothermal heat pump transfers energy to and from your home using an underground pipe. This pipe absorbs heat from the earth which it transmits into the building to keep it warm in the winter. In the summer, it does the opposite, transmitting heat into the earth. A geothermal heat pump is a wise investment for several reasons. First, its carbon footprint is considerably smaller than standard HVAC units. Also, they are four times more efficient at cooling or heating your home.

  1. Motioned-Activated Air Conditioning

A motion-activated air conditioner uses sensors that detect human presence within the home, so your air conditioner or heater only comes on when you are at home. Consequently, you never have to wonder whether you forgot to turn off the air conditioning or not. Not only will these motion sensors save you money in energy bills, they will also prevent damage to your HVAC caused by wear and tear. If you prefer to enter a pre-cooled room, some of these systems can use GPS to find out when you are a few minutes from home and begin the cooling process.

Now, you can make an informed decision and get the best out of your heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.
